Disposable inboxes are for short-term email; forwarding aliases are for ongoing notifications. Whichever you choose, consider first: can you afford to lose this message, and might you need to recover this account later?

See permitted and prohibited usesThese terms explain the scope of the service and your responsibilities when using FadeInbox. Before you begin, please also read the Privacy Policy. If these limits don’t suit your needs, use an email account you control long term and don’t send important information to a temporary address.
Here, “self-destructing email” means a temporary inbox that is automatically deleted when it expires. It does not mean emails are deleted as soon as they’re opened, nor does it guarantee complete anonymity. When using third-party websites, you must still follow their terms, identity requirements and applicable laws.
FadeInbox provides registration-free temporary inboxes for receiving and viewing email while an address is active. Temporary addresses are receive-only: they can’t send email and aren’t permanent mailboxes, account recovery addresses or long-term backups.
Long-term forwarding aliases require verification by logging in through a real email account you control. Emails sent to an alias are forwarded to that account. You can manage aliases and view a 30-day email archive in a separate dashboard. “Long-term” describes how this differs from a temporary inbox; it doesn’t promise that an address will be kept forever or that the service will never end.
| Feature | Retention and access | What you need to do |
|---|---|---|
| Temporary inbox | New addresses are valid for 3 hours by default and accessed with temporary inbox credentials. Emails and attachments are deleted when the address expires. | Check the live countdown, finish your task before expiry and save anything you need to keep. |
| Long-term alias forwarding | Depends on your login and whether the alias is enabled. Once disabled, new messages won’t be forwarded. | Keep your real email account accessible, check forwarding regularly and don’t rely on an alias as the only way to recover an important account. |
| Forwarded email archive | Lets you view records for 30 days. It doesn’t include temporary inbox messages and isn’t a permanent backup. | Save anything you need to keep long term elsewhere. Don’t count on the archive to restore messages you’ve deleted manually. |
| Third-party accounts | Third parties decide who can register, which addresses they accept and how account recovery works. | Check first that the service allows temporary email. For ongoing verification, use an email account you control long term. |
Not sure which option to choose? Read The Difference Between Disposable Email and Email Aliases first, then decide who to give your address to. Demo emails on this page are interface examples, not real notifications. They don’t mean that any brand shown endorses or guarantees acceptance of addresses from this service.
Use the service only for lawful, authorized purposes with manageable risks. Using an address that doesn’t expose your usual email doesn’t remove your responsibility for your registration activity, the content you receive or third-party rules.
Low-risk trials are allowed only when the platform permits them. Don’t repeatedly claim limited offers by changing addresses or use them to evade account restrictions. For testing, use fictional or anonymized data, or data you’re authorized to handle. Don’t send other people’s sensitive information to a temporary inbox.
Don’t use a short-lived address for registrations involving banking, work, healthcare, bills or account recovery that you can’t replace. Use the Trial Registration Checklist to assess the risks first. Long-term forwarding also can’t replace having direct control of important accounts.
Temporary inboxes don’t verify your identity with a username and password; access depends on inbox credentials. Treat these credentials as sensitive: don’t share links that contain them, publish full-page screenshots, browser storage data or debug logs. Anyone with the credentials may be able to access or delete inbox contents.
Clearing browser data, switching devices or losing your credentials may prevent you from accessing the original inbox. Knowing an email address doesn’t mean you can recover access to it. Don’t use a temporary address as the only contact method, password reset email or irreplaceable recovery channel for an important account.
Creating, disabling and deleting long-term aliases depends on your login. Make sure you control the login email, keep verification codes safe and log out on shared devices. If you enable two-step verification, protect your authenticator and keys as well. Logging out of the forwarding dashboard doesn’t destroy your temporary inbox; its own countdown still applies.
If you think credentials may have been exposed, stop sending sensitive information to the address, delete the temporary inbox or disable the alias as needed, and let us know through our support email. Don’t include valid verification codes, access tokens or authenticator keys when contacting us. For details on data handling, see the Privacy Policy.
The countdown shown in your inbox determines how long a temporary address remains valid. Each successful click on “Extend by 3 hours” adds 3 hours to the current expiry time; it doesn’t restart a fresh 3-hour period from when you click. Check the confirmation and updated countdown to make sure the extension worked.
Changing your address gives you a new address valid for 3 hours and invalidates the old inbox, deleting its emails. The new address won’t receive messages sent to the old one, and old inbox contents aren’t transferred. If you’ve already entered the old address in a third-party form, consider whether you need to wait for that message to arrive.
Deleting an email from this site doesn’t delete copies held by the sender, delivered to your forwarding destination or downloaded by you. Manage those copies yourself. To estimate how long a task may take, check the Expiry Planner, but don’t treat this service as a recoverable archive.
Sending platforms may reject one-time-use email addresses, limit how often codes can be resent or delay verification emails. Network issues, sender servers, spam filters and settings in your real email account may also delay delivery, send messages to spam or prevent delivery altogether. We can’t guarantee that a particular verification code will arrive.
Long-term forwarding also relies on multiple email systems, so not every message will reach its destination. Check your destination inbox’s spam folder, make sure the alias is enabled and review delivery records in the dashboard. Don’t assume a notification arrived just because you entered an address.
The service may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, outages, security incidents, network restrictions or abuse prevention. We don’t guarantee uninterrupted operation. For time-critical, legally significant or financially consequential notifications, use a reliable alternative and keep an email account under your direct control.
If you don’t receive a verification code, check the address, refresh manually and wait a little. Don’t repeatedly request a new code. For detailed steps, see Delivery Diagnostics. If the sending platform explicitly doesn’t support temporary addresses, follow its rules and use a suitable email account instead.
To protect users, email systems and service availability, we may limit requests, disable addresses or aliases, or suspend related access in response to violations of these terms, security risks or clearly abnormal use. Don’t use this service for illegal activity. We may not be able to give advance notice of security measures or actions required by law.
These terms may change as features, risk controls or legal requirements evolve. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a date. Check the latest terms before continuing to use the service. For significant changes, also check notices published on the site; don’t rely solely on a previously saved copy when planning to receive important emails.
Your use of the service must comply with laws applicable to you and your activities. Any additional provisions about the operator, governing law or dispute resolution must be based on official terms clearly published on this site and mandatory legal requirements. This page doesn’t designate an unpublished company, court or jurisdiction, and doesn’t exclude user rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
For questions about these terms, incorrect restrictions or using the service, email support@fadeinbox.com. Please include when the issue occurred, the relevant page and an error description without sensitive information. For details on data handling, read the Privacy Policy. Don’t include verification codes, login credentials or complete private emails in support requests.
For short-term email, use a temporary inbox. For ongoing notifications, learn about long-term aliases. Always keep recovery email access for important accounts in your own hands.
